Four political parties have boycotted the House of Representatives meeting in protest against Prime Minister Balendra Sah's absence from the parliament to answer questions raised in the parliament on the policies and programs of the upcoming fiscal year.
The UML, Nepali Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) are among those boycotting the meeting. The parties had been demanding that the Prime Minister himself address various queries and questions raised by lawmakers on the government's policies and programs. The opposition parties, dissatisfied with Prime Minister Sah's absence from the parliament to answer, walked out of the house. Although the four parties boycotted the meeting and walked out, the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, has continued its protest by standing inside the house. Congress lawmakers had been saying that the Prime Minister's presence was mandatory.
Earlier, the opposition parties had been insisting that the Prime Minister himself should stand in the parliament and give clarifications on important issues like policies and programs. Opposition parties have expressed their disagreement with the functioning of the House, saying that the Prime Minister's absence has raised questions about the dignity and accountability of Parliament.
