Addressing the meeting, Finance Minister Dr. Wagle mentioned that the government has given high priority to the public's expectation to end corruption and maintain good governance in the country. Speaking on the amendment proposals put forward by the lawmakers, he informed that adequate budget will be allocated for the construction of Tinker Road to resolve the border dispute and foreign aid will be mobilized through the Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) Development Fund. Similarly, he said that the policy and program will be consistent with the 16th Periodic Plan and the Medium-Term Expenditure Structure.
The Finance Minister said, ‘The government has accepted the views expressed by the lawmakers in writing and orally as a common document. Maximum efforts will be made to include these suggestions in the upcoming budget within the limits of available resources and means.’
Finance Minister Dr. Wagle mentioned that the government is sensitive to issues such as resolving cooperative problems, minimizing gender-based violence, reconstruction after the Jajarkot earthquake, problems of sugarcane farmers and controlling agricultural damage caused by wildlife. He also said that the government has positively taken up the suggestions made by the opposition lawmakers on issues ranging from branding of Himalayan chhurpi to bringing a clear policy for cyberspace.
Stating that the government is determined to achieve infrastructure development and social justice by radically reforming the structure of the economy, the Finance Minister clarified that programs will be implemented in coordination with the local and provincial levels in accordance with the spirit of the federal democratic governance system.
