Independent MP Mahabir Pun has urged to prioritize innovation and scientific research.
Speaking at a special meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, he informed that he had previously tried to bring an ordinance for innovation and development research when he was in the government. This was his demand and he urged the government to work on it.
He also demanded the formation of a separate ministry for science, technology, innovation and research. He said that he was a minister in the government that held the elections on Falgun 21, 2082 BS, and mentioned that the current parliament and government were formed from the elections held by that government.
Of the three ordinances he tried to bring at the time, the current government brought the ordinance related to universities to free education from politics, but he demanded that the Chancellor not be the Prime Minister.
