Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) President Rabi Lamichhane has said that the problem of squatters will be permanently resolved.
Speaking at a training program for party lawmakers held in Lalitpur on Sunday, Lamichhane said that no one should panic about the government's move to remove squatter settlements. He said that landless squatters will be released after being given land titles.
'The move was taken in a situation where people are living in an unorganized, unsafe manner along the banks of the river and are being illegally and openly seized. Apart from that, no one needs to panic. We have already been holding our chests for that! We will give land titles to everyone,' he said. 'They (the old party) have been raising the problem for 30 years. Our chests have been held. We will continue to hold our chests until the landless get land. We will solve this problem permanently.'
Lamichhane, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, accused the old political parties of creating the problem of squatters to use them as a vote bank. 'The problem of squatters was not created by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Has a house become a squatter because of us? Show me a family across the country that is a squatter family brought by the RSSS. We are solving it,' he said.
He said that the RSSSS government is trying to bring the country back on track as it was off track earlier. He defended the ordinance brought by the government and said that the ordinance should be brought to move development forward at a faster pace and for necessary policies and rules.
