Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that the steps taken to remove squatter settlements are not aimed at evicting citizens, but to find a permanent solution to the problem by ensuring their right to housing.

Prime Minister Shah has stated that the government is serious about the efforts being made to spread fear of uprisings among citizens living in unorganized settlements.
He has informed that the process of managing encroachments on river banks and public lands in accordance with the law has been taken forward. He also mentioned that some sections of the Land Act, 2021, have been repealed through an ordinance in the process of removing legal obstacles for a long-term solution.
Shah said that the work of collecting digital data, verifying details and preparing records has begun to identify real landless citizens. He said that this will identify the real situation of the landless and move towards a systematic and transparent solution.
Stating that citizens residing in unsafe places will be relocated to safe places, he said that decisions will be made on the basis of the recommendations of the relevant commission in the case of other landless people.
Prime Minister Shah wrote, 'All the steps taken are not with the aim of removing citizens, but with the aim of ensuring the right to housing and finding a permanent solution to the problem.'
Similarly, he urged citizens not to be misled, not to spread unverified information and not to panic unnecessarily.
Stating that the government is committed to ensuring safe, dignified and permanent housing for every landless citizen, he said, 'No citizen will be allowed to become homeless.'
