Congress President Gagan Thapa has met with then acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka. According to General Secretary Pradeep Poudel, he met Khadka in the evening and said that they had a discussion on maintaining party unity. Khadka informed that there was no initiative for unity in the meeting of the then office bearers and central members of his group today.
'The president has started taking initiatives for party unity since Sunday. We are serious about ending all kinds of disputes and maintaining party unity,' Poudel said, 'I hope that the discussion with the then acting president will take a positive path.' Poudel said that the clarification sought by the Central Disciplinary Committee on Khadka last Wednesday has also ended.
Khadka had sought a seven-day explanation for carrying out parallel activities of the party while holding the position of acting president. Poudel said that the clarification will be withdrawn.
The meeting of the Central Disciplinary Committee, coordinated by Taraman Gurung, has been called for Monday.
