The debate on whether to extend the detention of UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister and Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak has concluded in the Kathmandu District Court.

The debate was held in the bench of Judge Anand Shrestha. Lekhak was produced in the court itself, while Oli was connected virtually. Both were arrested on Saturday morning for investigation on charges of repression in the 23 Bhadra incident.

During the debate, the government side had demanded 10 days, while Oli and Lekhak's lawyers had demanded their release, saying there was no basis for their detention. Senior advocates Harihar Dahal, Agni Kharel, Ramesh Badal, Gopal Krishna Ghimire, Khamma Bahadur Khati, and others argued on behalf of Oli and Lekhak.
