UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the recommendation for action against him in the report of the inquiry commission on the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 is unacceptable. Formally making his views public the day after the commission's report was made public, he argued that his involvement as the then Prime Minister in the incident that killed about two dozen people on Bhadra 23 cannot be confirmed.
He criticized the report while training UML lawmakers at the party's central office on Thursday. 'Now, it has been recommended to investigate and prosecute the then Prime Minister, especially the CPN-UML Chairman, according to criminal offenses. According to that crime, the person must have been present at the scene and the incident must have been directly caused by him,' he said. 'Whether it is intentional or negligent, his presence at the scene is necessary in any situation. The Prime Minister does not fire, 'I will order not to use it.'
Chairman Oli said that it is baseless to recommend action against the Home Minister and the Inspector General of Police. 'That is extremely baseless and legally it is not possible to recommend against the Prime Minister, Home Minister, IGP, and those who are not present at the scene.'
He also said that the recommendation for action is biased. 'Mentioning our name there is extreme bias, after finding nothing, after finding nothing, those sections have been imposed by force. This is just another manifestation of defamation, character assassination, and the politics of hate. The politics of hate has only been revealed, which is why it is condemnable.'
