Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the party will play the role of the opposition responsibly.
Addressing the Central Working Committee meeting that began today at the party's central office, Sanepa, President Thapa said that he will play the role of the opposition given by the public vote in the federal parliament responsibly.
'We will play the role of the opposition based on the constitution, the party's statute and the pledge,' he said, 'The National Independent Party will have the support and cooperation of the Congress to move forward with good governance, service and development during the period from 2082 to 2087, we will play our role in a way that there will be no conflict or accident in the next 5 years.'
Stating that he had to go to the election under adverse conditions, President Thapa said that he resigned from the post of president after the election results, taking responsibility. 'The Central Committee has made a decision that is different from my expectations. The remaining decisions will be made by the upcoming general convention. Now we will move forward towards the general convention,' he said.
Chairman Thapa mentioned that citizens have specific expectations from the next government in terms of good governance. He also emphasized the need for a clear investigation into the abuse of authority and policy-level corruption.
'The assets of everyone who has held public office since 2046 should be investigated, illegal assets should be confiscated, and a commission should be formed for this,' he said. He informed that the party has already reviewed the election issue and a decision will be made in today's meeting and a review will be conducted in all seven provinces.
