The Central Committee has rejected the resignation of Congress President Gagan Thapa. Thapa had submitted his resignation to Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma last Wednesday. Thapa's resignation, which was presented by Sharma at the Central Committee meeting on Friday, was rejected on Sunday. All 88 office bearers and members who spoke at the Central Committee were of the opinion that the resignation should be rejected.

Grounds for rejecting the resignation

The main reasons for the election defeat are structural problems and circumstances beyond control • It is felt that President Thapa's leadership is even more necessary in the current complex national situation

• Since accepting the resignation is likely to lead to unnecessary instability, confusion and a decline in the morale of the cadres

• Since the resignation is not mandatory but a moral and voluntary matter, it is appropriate to reject it while respecting it

• Since it is based on the principle of collective responsibility and the principle of the need for stability of the party leadership

• Since the implementation of the reform program (Congress 2.0) initiated after the Special General Convention (SGC 2.0) is necessary;

• Since the party needs to focus on the upcoming 15th General Convention;

• Since the unanimous decision was made by the full meeting of the Central Working Committee;
