Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) President Ravi Lamichhane has instructed his MPs to be responsible and restrained while making public statements.

Speaking at an orientation program for RSWP MPs organized at a hotel in Lalitpur on Wednesday, he said that MPs should maintain their dignity as they are now not just ordinary activists or professionals but people's representatives.

'No one, not even I, has the right to make arbitrary statements, make it a matter of entertainment and present it lightly,' Lamichhane said, 'The heads of the people who voted should not be bowed down through any statement or activity.'

He said that the statements made by MPs can also affect foreign relations and the economy, so they should speak thoughtfully.

Meanwhile, he urged the MPs to get treatment in government hospitals as much as possible and opined that the people should also experience the problems they face themselves.

‘We cannot separate ourselves from the hardships faced by the people’s children,’ he said. ‘If we want to improve government services, we should take services from there.’

Lamichhane said that the position of MP does not automatically give knowledge and has also instructed them to study continuously and to reach out to villages, toll plazas and tea plantations to listen to the problems of the people when parliament is not in session.
