The deposits of 35 candidates contesting for the House of Representatives from Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 have been forfeited.

The Chief Electoral Officer's Office, Rupandehi, has stated that the deposits of all other candidates, except Dr. Lekhjung Thapa of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, who was elected from that constituency, have been forfeited. A total of 36 people had filed their candidacies from Rupandehi-3.

Chief Electoral Officer of Rupandehi, Ashok Kumar Basnet, said that all the others, except those elected, did not receive 10 percent of the total votes cast in the direct election as per the provision that the deposit is forfeited if they fail to obtain 10 percent of the total votes cast in the direct election.

Out of the total votes cast in Rupandehi-3, 89,414 votes were valid. When Thapa was elected with 58,814 votes, his nearest rival, Sushil Gurung of the Nepali Congress, received 8,435 votes. 8,941 votes are required to avoid the deposit.
