Congress returns to Palpa-1 after 34 years

Kaluram Rana of the Nepali Congress won the 2048 election in Palpa-1 after the 2046 people's movement. Since then, UML candidates have been winning the elections.

Congress has won in Palpa-1 after 34 years. Congress candidate Sandeep Rana has won in Palpa-1. He won with 18,336 votes.

His closest competitor, UML's Narayan Acharya, got 16,819 votes. Similarly, Bimal Panta of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) who was in third place got 14,333 votes. In Palpa-1, Kaluram Rana of the Nepali Congress had won the 2048 election after the 2046 Jana Andolan. UML candidates had been winning the elections since then. In the 2051 mid-term elections, UML's Dal Bahadur Rana won the election. In 2056, he became a candidate from the ML and was won by UML's Bhadra Bahadur Thapa. In the 2064 Constituent Assembly elections, Dal Bahadur Rana won from the UML. Radhakrishna Kandel won the election in the 2070 Constituent Assembly, Dal Bahadur Rana again in 2074, and Narayan Acharya in 2079.
