Nepali Communist Party coordinator and newly elected member of the House of Representatives Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that no one should be happy about getting more seats, referring to the latest vote results. He also said that he is now likely to become the most senior leader in the parliament.
Addressing a corner meeting organized after the victory rally in Rukumkot, the district headquarters of Rukum East, Dahal said, ‘We also got a similar large public vote in 2064.’ But we could not maintain that victory. That is why no one needs to be happy now. There is no need to be sad about getting less.’
He also mentioned the name of the National Independent Party, which is on the verge of victory across the country, and said that he should now lead it. ‘The issues that we have been raising since yesterday have been raised by the Gen-G youth.’ The same is true of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), that is why I am the leader of this party now,' he said, 'Among the former prime ministers, I am the only candidate who has won. That is why I am a lion.'
Thanking the voters of Rukum East for voting for him, Dahal reiterated his commitment to work for the overall development of the district. Stating that some work of the peace process remains to be completed, Dahal also expressed his expectation for everyone's support in the coming days.
Dahal won from Rukum East by getting 10,240 votes. Out of a total of 34,772 voters, a total of 19,151 votes were cast in this district. Dahal's rival, UML candidate Lilamani Gautam, got 3,462 votes, while Congress candidate Kusumdevi Thapa got 3,081 votes.
