In Jhapa 5, former Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has lagged behind in the counting of the areas where he expected to get good votes.

UML leaders had been saying that they had a strong hold outside the Damak area. And, they had made every effort to save votes in those areas.

However, now that 2,403 votes have been counted in Bansbari Secondary School (A) and (B) of Kamal Rural Municipality and Moti Secondary School (A) and (B) of Gauradaha, Oli is lagging behind by 1,093 votes.

While senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Balendra Shah got 1,478 votes, Oli got 385 votes.
