Khem Kumari Bhurtel (Urmila), a founding member and leader of the National Independent Party, has resigned from her position as an ordinary member of the party.
She resigned, saying that she could not bear to witness the promotion of activities contrary to the law and statute in the party.
Bhurtel announced her resignation from the party on Wednesday on social media. She was a direct candidate for the 2079 House of Representatives.
'I am the only female candidate from Madhesh Province among the 11 direct female candidates of the founding member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 2079. Till date, I have been continuously contributing to the party with a selfless spirit by dedicating my qualifications, abilities, skills and time,' Bhurtel said. 'I joined this party inspired by the main slogan that the young generation should come into politics and choose those who know.' However, the party has indulged in flattery and economicism contrary to the law and statute, and has limited capable women and youth to slogans only. I have experienced that responsibility has been neglected where it should have been taken, corruption has increased within the party, and the method adopted by the party concerned in the upcoming Falgun 21 election, the party's decisions and working style are completely contrary to the founding values, party statute and public commitment of the RSVP.'
Bhurtel says that the contribution of the capable cadres who worked day and night in the party has not been properly evaluated. 'The lack of proper evaluation of the contribution of the capable bell-ringers who worked day and night in the organization, activities against the law and statute, the party's principles not being implemented in practice, and the party's decisions being inspired by financial irregularities have created a situation that has damaged my self-respect and political value,' Bhurtel said. 'The party ranks and the common citizens are also aware of the contributions I made to build the party when the party was in crisis. Since I cannot be accountable to the citizens while being in the National Independent Party, I am now unable to remain silent as a witness to all these activities.'
Bhurtel has announced that she has submitted her resignation as an ordinary member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) effective from Wednesday. She had aspired to become a candidate for the House of Representatives from Kathmandu 5. She was the RSSS candidate from Mahottari 4 in the 2079 elections.
