Congress will manage the country by including everyone: President Thapa

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the Congress will fulfill its responsibility to manage the country by embracing all views and communities.

Addressing a gathering of workers held in Lahan, Siraha on Tuesday, he mentioned the need for a responsible force like the Congress to guide the country in the right direction in the current challenging situation.

During his address, he claimed that the Congress is not just a political party but a charioteer of the crisis. 'We have come with new thinking and determination,' said President Thapa, 'Only the Congress has the power to unite everyone and improve the country without spreading any excitement, quarrel or hatred.' Therefore, he also called on people to vote for the Congress candidate in the upcoming elections.

Recalling BP Koirala's reconciliation policy and the role played by the Congress in bringing the Maoists to the peace process, he said, 'It was the national character of the Congress for BP to risk his life to save the country in 2033 BS or to bring the Maoists, who were in an armed war, to peaceful politics. Today, we need a force to handle the country in the same way again.' He made it clear that the Congress would never engage in politics of revenge.

Admitting that there is extreme distrust among citizens towards state institutions, General Secretary Thapa emphasized that the main agenda now should be to end corruption. 'Citizens are angry because they see corruption at the root of every problem,' he said, 'If the leader has a clean intention and the right policy, corruption will be eliminated from Nepal and the country will move forward. Therefore, let us try to understand what the citizens are trying to say without thinking about ourselves. Then we can instill hope in the people.'

He said that the tendency of 'adding fuel to the fire' by using the people's anger for political gain should be avoided. He said that the Congress is committed to understanding and solving the problems of the citizens by freeing them from all forms of extremism. Earlier, President Thapa had garlanded the statue of Ramesh Mahato, the first martyr of the Madhesh movement, in Lahan Chowk.
