The Election Commission has stated that 8.44 million ballot papers have been printed under the first past the post electoral system, i.e. the direct system.

According to the information given at the weekly press conference of the commission on Friday, a total of 23.23 million ballot papers required for the direct election system have to be printed. Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the commission, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, informed that 7,134 boxes of printed ballot papers have been packed. 

He said that so far, printing and packing of a total of 32 districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (western part), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung and Gulmi have been completed.

Printing of ballot papers for the elections to be held under the proportional electoral system and the first past the post electoral system has begun at Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra Limited, Sanothimi since December 22. The Commission has stated that 1 million 98 thousand 200 sample ballot papers have been printed in the first phase and have been sent to various districts.

Printing of ballot papers for the proportional electoral system began on December 26 and 28 million 30 thousand ballot papers have been printed and packed and verified and are ready for transportation. The Commission has signed a memorandum of understanding with the digital platform TikTok as part of the preparations for the elections to the House of Representatives. The Commission has approved a special program related to voter education and is preparing to deploy volunteers at each ward level, including an orientation program at the provincial level.

The final closed list of candidates submitted by political parties for the proportional electoral system has been published. Printing of ballot papers for the first past the post electoral system is ongoing. The Commission has stated that mechanisms including the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee have been activated to continue monitoring.
