I became a candidate from Rukum East to give a new message of socialism: Coordinator Dahal

What you should know

NCP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that he has become a candidate to deliver the message of building socialism in Rukum (East), which is the place where the republic was declared in Nepal.

At a gathering and training program of Rukum (East) cadres organized in Kathmandu on Friday, Dahal said that Rukum (East) is the decisive center of Nepal's republican movement.

Recalling that the Chunwang meeting in East Rukum concluded that a federal democratic republic should be established in Nepal, he said that the Chunwang meeting had declared the rights of women, indigenous peoples, Madhesis, Tharus and other oppressed communities with identity.

He said that the Chunwang meeting is well-known not only in Nepal but also internationally. Coordinator Dahal also recalled that a historic ideological debate took place within the party in the Rukum East meeting. He said that he had already contested the election from Rolpa this time.

He mentioned that when he was the Prime Minister for the third time, he declared the martyrs of the People's War as national martyrs and gave formal and legal recognition. However, he said that although a bill for its implementation has been made, it has yet to be fully implemented.

This is what Dahal said

The specialty of Rukum East is that it is the district from where it was concluded that no one can stop the republic in Nepal and it was announced. Chunwang meeting in Rukum. We are all proud of you, Chunwang. That Chunwang is not only known in Nepal, it opened the door to a federal democratic republic in Nepal, the Chunwang meeting. It is also known all over the world. From where it was announced that a federal democratic republic would be established in Nepal, giving rights to all oppressed communities including women, indigenous peoples, Madhesis, Tharus and others.

Rukum East is also a district where the ideological struggle that was going on within our party at that time, a very big debate took place. That meeting was also an unforgettable meeting in the history of our party, we call it the Lawang meeting. The country, especially after the destruction of the Gen-G movement on Bhadra 23 and 24, has gone through an extraordinarily complex situation.

The nation is in great difficulty. Therefore, our party and I thought that Rukum East might be the appropriate place to unite the nation, give a new height to the movement, and give a new message of building socialism throughout the country. Because I had already contested the election in Rolpa.
