The Civil Liberties Party (NAUPA), which emerged as a regional force in the Western Terai by winning the 2079 local, provincial and representative elections with the slogan of identity in the wake of the Tikapur murder incident, has split into many factions in just three years.

The top leaders of the former Naupa have become candidates from 6 different parties in the upcoming elections.

Resham Chaudhary, the patron of the former Naupa, is a candidate from a separate party, and Resham's wife Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary, who is the president, merged Naupa into the NCP. Kailali Constituency 1 was made the basis for the formation of Naupa. Now, in the same constituency, the leaders of the former Naupa have divided into 6 factions and become candidates from different parties.

The Election Commission has already rejected the candidacy of Resham, who broke away from Naupa and formed the Civil Liberation Party Nepal.

Ramlal Dagoura, who is also the mayor of Tikapur Municipality, has become a candidate from the Tharu Nepali Communist Party, while another leader Pradeep Chaudhary has become a candidate from Ujjwal Nepal. A faction of Naupa has joined the Shram Sanskriti Party. Saraswati Chaudhary has become a candidate from the Shram Sanskriti Party. The group of Damodar Pandit, who is the senior vice-president of the party, has merged with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In Kailali 1, the RSS has fielded Komal Gyawali from the former Naupa party as its candidate. Rupa Chaudhary has become a candidate from the Aam Janata Party.

Just as the Nagarik Unmukti Party, which emerged from the Tharu community of the western Tarai due to the power struggle between the Resham-Ranjita couple, suddenly emerged, the party has reached the point of merging in a short time.

After Tharu leaders including Resham-Ranjita united, the Nagarik Unmukti Party candidates won directly in three constituencies of Kailali in the 2079 House of Representatives, directly in six constituencies in the Provincial Assembly, and in four local levels of Kailali. Ranjita Shrestha won from Kailali constituency 1. But less than three years after the party was formed, that victory of Naupa has become a memory.

In Kailali Constituency 1, there is a competition between Janakraj Chaudhary of Congress and Dwarika Prasad Neupane, the candidate from UML, along with four people who broke away from Naupa and joined a separate party.

Among the four local level chiefs of Kailali elected from the former Naupa, Ramlal Dagoura of Tikapur has become a candidate for the House of Representatives from the Tharu NCP. Janaki Rural Municipality Chairman Ganesh Chaudhary is attracting attention in Ujjaya Nepal.

In the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly, seven MPs from the former Naupa joined another party and are now forced to stay in the NCP along with Ranjita, who is about to resign. Six of them were close to Resham Chaudhary in the past. Apart from the ward chairperson, 16 people's representatives were elected from Naupa at all three levels.

Out of the 21 central members who were elected from Naupa when Naupa was formed, some of them were already inactive. Founding central members Alok Chaudhary and Ashin Chaudhary have joined Resham's party. 'As Naupa moved from one election to the next, it split into six pieces,' says Krishnaraj Sarbahari, a civic leader from Tikapur who has been closely monitoring Naupa since its inception. 'The power struggle between Resham and Ranjita has led to Naupa's current state.' This situation has arisen because the leading leaders forgot the slogans and promises made when Naupa was founded and started running for power and positions.'
