The Election Commission has stated that all preparations for the National Assembly member election to be held on Sunday, Magh 11 have been completed.

At a weekly press conference organized by the commission on Friday, spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that all preparations for the voting under the National Assembly member election have been completed. He informed that the work including registration of nomination papers of candidates, objections to claims, investigation, publication of the final list of names and distribution of election symbols have been completed. Ballot papers for the election have also been sent to the office of the concerned election officer. The commission has stated that the voting for the National Assembly member election will be held on Sunday, Magh 11 from 9 am to 3 pm at the designated polling stations in the concerned provinces.

Elections are going to be held for 18 National Assembly members on Sunday, Magh 11. Sunil Bahadur Thapa of the Nepali Congress has been elected unopposed. Voting is scheduled for 17 people in all seven provincial capitals.

There is a legal provision for the National Assembly member election that provincial assembly members, local level chiefs and deputy chiefs, and chairmen and vice-chairmen are voters. Kul Bahadur GC, assistant spokesperson of the commission, informed that some provincial assembly members and local level chiefs, deputy chiefs, chairmen, and vice-chairmen have resigned and registered their candidacies for the House of Representatives, and their names have been removed from the voter list.
