On Tuesday, 3,487 candidates filed nomination papers in all 165 constituencies. In 2079 BS, 2,412 candidates filed nomination papers. This year, 2,297 candidates from 68 political parties have filed their nominations. Of these, 2,064 are men and 235 are women. There are 1,187 independent candidates. Of these, 1,024 are men and 160 are women, said Kul Bahadur GC, assistant spokesperson of the Election Commission.
Of those who filed their nominations, 583 are in the age group of 25 to 35, 1,610 are in the age group of 36 to 50, 1,090 are in the age group of 51 to 65, and 201 are above 65. It is estimated that the number of youth filing their nominations has increased after the Gen-G movement with the main slogan of good governance.
