14 parties and 3 independent candidates in Ramechhap, only one woman

A total of 17 candidates, including 14 political parties and 3 independents, have registered their candidacies in Ramechhap for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21. However, the participation of women in the candidacy registration process has been very low.

According to District Election Officer Narayan Lamichhane, only one female candidate has registered her candidacy from Ramechhap.

Kesari Shrestha has filed her candidacy from Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NMP). Out of the total candidates, only 8.88 percent are female candidates.

According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, 3 people have registered their candidacies as independent candidates. The independent candidates are Arun Karki, Babukaji Khadka and Santosh Ghimire.

From the political party perspective, Ramchandra Khadka from Nepali Congress, Madhav Prasad Dhungel from CPN (UML), Shyam Kumar Shrestha from Nepali Communist Party and Dr. Krishnahari Budhathoki from National Independent Party (RASP) have registered their candidacies.

Similarly, Gore Tamang from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Arjun Bahadur Thapa Magar from the Rastriya Janamorcha, and Dhal Bahadur Khapangi Magar from the Shram Sanskriti Party have registered their nominations.

Yama Bahadur Moktan from the National Republic Party, Deep Bahadur Yonjan from the Ujjaya Nepal Party, Birendra Shrestha from the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party, Padam Bahadur Tamang from the Aam Janata Party, Binod Ghising from the Mongol National Organization, and Yamun Bahadur Basnet from the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) have registered their candidacies.

Chief Election Officer and District Judge Rajendra Nepal informed that the claims and objections against the candidates will be investigated on Magh 27 and 28 as per the provision to file a complaint with evidence against the nomination papers after the candidacy registration.
