Central member Jeevan Budha has filed a rebel candidacy against Nepali Communist Party candidate Mahendra Bahadur Shahi in Kalikot, which has a single constituency. During discussions throughout the day on Monday, former Karnali Province Chief Minister Shahi filed his nomination to run for the third time, but Budha, a former National Assembly member, said he filed his independent candidacy.

‘How many leaders will always accept the same person?’ Budha, who has filed an independent candidacy, said, ‘My candidacy is to end the trend of leaders getting rich and people always remaining in poverty.’ He also said that he was forced to file an independent candidacy because there is no method or policy in the party, and the nomination papers were seized by the majority of the leaders and workers of the district by being bullied.

Budha said that he has become a candidate to change the character and tendency of not giving others their turn even when he was the second Constituent Assembly of 2070 BS, the Provincial Assembly of 2074 BS, the Federal Parliament of 2079 BS, the Chief Minister and the Minister.

CPN-Maoist spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma has also filed his candidacy from Kalikot. Bishwakarma, who reached Kalikot by plane via Surkhet on Tuesday at 5 pm, filed his candidacy.

Chief Election Officer Kul Prasad Dahal said that Nagindra Shahi National of UML, Harsha Bahadur Bam of Congress, Prakash Neupane of National Independent Party, Dharmaraj Neupane of Progressive Democratic Party, Surya Bahadur Shahi of RPP, Nanda Bahadur Shahi of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, and Aj Bahadur Giri of National Janamorcha have also registered their candidacies.
