Bishnu Rijal did not get the ticket, Oli's choice was Chakre Milan

What you should know

This is the third time that UML leader Bishnu Rijal has expressed his desire to become a candidate for the House of Representatives from Dailekh-2. But this time too, he did not get a ticket. He has expressed his dissatisfaction by saying that he wanted to become a candidate for the House of Representatives three times, in 2074, 2079 and 2082, but could not be chosen by the leadership for the third time.

Rijal, who has been active in UML politics since his student days, is a leader who has also served as the Prime Minister's press advisor. He was elected as a member of the party's central committee at the recently concluded UML general convention.

KP Oli did not make Rijal, who has been working continuously in the party, a candidate in Dailekh 2. Instead, Rijal started contesting the election from the Pradhan Panch in 2043 BS when he was 7 years old. He was not the first choice of leading cadres of his own area in the internal elections, but was defeated by a large number of votes in the party's general convention and was chosen by Laxmi Prasad Sharma Oli.

On the other hand, Milan Gurung, who is in the news as the controversial character Chakre Milan, is the choice of UML Chairman Oli. Gurung has been nominated by UML as a candidate for Gorkha-2. After making Chakre Milan a candidate, comments have started on social media.

Chakre Milan had aspired to be a candidate from Gorkha-2 in the 2079 BS elections. At that time, UML had nominated Abdus Miyan as its candidate from Gorkha-2.

Rijal wanted to become a candidate for the House of Representatives from Dailekh-2. While selecting candidates on Saturday, UML has decided to nominate Laxmi Raj Sharma as its candidate from Dailekh-2. In Dailekh-1, it has nominated Rabindra Raj Sharma as its candidate.

Rijal says that the party leadership has given priority only to those who are its favorites in ticket distribution. On Sunday, Rijal wrote on social media Facebook, 'In this election, I was recommended as the first number in the voting of the CPN (UML) cadres from Dailekh-2. The district and state committees had also recommended me as the first number. However, I could not be the leadership's choice even for the third time.'

Rijal says that even though the grassroots leaders and cadres wanted to see me as a candidate, the party leadership did not give me a ticket. "The leadership has again given a ticket to the experienced Laxmi Prasad Pokharel, who started contesting elections from the Pradhan Panch in 2043 BS when I was seven years old. Even though she was not the first choice of the leading cadres of her own constituency in the internal elections of the party, and despite being defeated by a large number of votes in the recently concluded party general convention, it is impossible not to admire Laxmiji's amazing ability to become the choice of the leadership," Rijal wrote.

Rijal says that he will remain active in politics whether the party leadership gives him a ticket or not. He wrote that he has never been in favor of division and division and will not be in favor in the coming days.
