Congress leaders from Shekhar Koirala's faction have said that they cannot abandon the Congress and the four-star flag as a whole.

The dissolved central committee meeting is being held in Sanepa. Koirala, Badri Pandey and other leaders are there.

'We are consulting about the future,' A leader from the Shekhar faction said, ' We cannot leave the four-star flag and tree as election symbols.' The leader criticized the decision made by the Election Commission on Friday. The commission had given legitimacy to the new working committee led by President Gagan Thapa, elected from the Congress special general convention.

'But our sentiment is linked to the party. Regardless of where the leadership has reached technically, we cannot leave the entire Congress and the four-star flag,' the leader reiterated.

He said that former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka is discussing taking a writ to the Supreme Court against the Election Commission's decision.

Leaders including Ramesh Lekhak, Krishna Sitaula, Bal Krishna Khand, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki have also participated in Sanepa. The leaders informed that although the leaders gathered at the central office, the meeting did not take place.
