Congress leader and House of Representatives Constituency No. 3 Congress leader Birendra Kumar Kanodia, who was recommended as a single name from the party, has joined the UML. Kanodia, a former Lumbini Provincial Assembly member, joined the UML in Kathmandu on Saturday.
He said that he joined the UML after accepting membership from Chairman KP Sharma Oli. As the turmoil in the Congress was increasing, it is said that he joined the UML after assessing that he would not get a ticket from Constituency No. 3 for the House of Representatives. He joined the UML after the ticket to contest from Constituency No. 3 was confirmed.
Kanodia said that he joined the UML because he felt it was better to join the UML than to get caught up in the growing disputes and factions in the Congress. He was also the then Deputy Chairman of the District Development Committee and the Federal Minister of State for Water Resources from the Congress.
