UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that withdrawing Rabi Lamichhane's case will weaken the rule of law.

Speaking at a press meet and felicitation program organized by Press Chautari Dang in Ghorahi on Thursday morning, he urged the government to withdraw the decision. He said that this action also confirmed the essence of the protest on Bhadra 23 and 24. He said that the purpose of attacking the police and the court is also becoming clear.

Stating that the rule of law cannot be challenged in the name of new power, he expressed the view that even independent parties should be able to oppose this decision. Stating that peace and security cannot be maintained in the country by lowering the morale of the police, he said that the government's activities are not focused on increasing the morale of the police.

He expressed the view that democracy will be strong only if political parties are strong. For this, the Congress should be aware of it in time and work to form a united party. He said that although the UML is in favor of restoring the parliament, it is ready to go to the election respecting democratic norms.

Stating that populism is turning into anarchism, he said that this is not the way to build this country. Pokharel said that a conspiracy is currently being hatched to divide the society and the country by creating conflict between the old and new generations. Expressing the view that this will weaken the nation, he said that Nepali society has prospered through the collaboration of the old and new generations.
