Election officer offices to open in all constituencies from tomorrow

The Commission's Assistant Spokesperson, Sita Shree Pun, has informed that the offices of the Returning Officers will be opened and operational in all 165 constituencies from 2 Magh.

Election officer offices to open in all constituencies from tomorrow

The Election Commission is establishing election officer offices in all constituencies from Friday for the purpose of conducting and managing the House of Representatives elections.

The nomination of candidates for the direct election system will be held on 6th January. Before that, the commission is preparing to open election offices for the respective constituencies and deploy staff. The commission's assistant spokesperson Sita Shree Pun has informed that the offices of election officers will be opened in all 165 constituencies from 2nd January and will be operational.

The commission has already designated 77 Chief Election Officers and 88 Election Officers to be deployed in each district. The Chief Election Officer and Election Officer will be responsible for one constituency each.

The Chief Election Officer has been designated from among the district judges. Similarly, second-class officers of the Judicial Service have been made election officers. The commission has designated the names of the chief and remaining election officers in consultation with the Judicial Council.

Training for election officers has been completed on 28th and 29th December. Training programs were organized at four locations - Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Chitwan and Nepalgunj. Election officers will be responsible for everything from nomination of candidates to voting, counting of votes and drawing up the election results. The manpower required for the office of the election officer will be brought in from government offices in the district.
