Nepali Congress leader Pradeep Poudel has said that the leadership has accused supporters of a special general convention of trying to split the party.
He insulted the general convention delegates who came from all over the country and accused the party establishment of trying to split the party.
Speaking at the party's special general convention that began in Kathmandu on Sunday, leader Poudel said that they are committed to changing the party leadership for the future of the Congress. He also said that they have called the special general convention to prevent the future of the Congress from ending.
'Should we end the future of the Congress to protect the leadership or change the leadership of the Nepali Congress for the future of the Congress? It is in our hands. The general convention delegates of the Nepali Congress have dedicated their lives to the Congress. Some may not have obtained state positions. But they have dedicated their lives to the Nepali Congress,' he said, 'We do not want to split the Congress. We want to make the Congress stronger. We want to unite the Congress. Therefore, when the respected general convention delegates demand a special general convention, we cannot say that we are trying to split the Congress by insulting them.'
Leader Poudel also made it clear that those in favor of the special general convention do not want the party to split.
