General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has reached the stage to participate in the special general convention of the Nepali Congress. However, top leaders including President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka are not participating in the general convention.

Among the top leadership, only General Secretary Thapa and another General Secretary Bishwaprakash Sharma are participating in the general convention.

General Secretary Thapa had released a photo of himself leaving his home after receiving blessings from his parents before arriving at the general convention venue. When Thapa reached the general convention venue, the general convention representatives chanted slogans in his support. 

Central member Pradeep Poudel has also reached the general convention, while leaders close to President Deuba, Gopaman Shrestha, Bharat Shah and Dhruv Wagle, have also reached the general convention venue.
