Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President and Nepali Congress Baitadi President Chatur Bahadur Chand has commented that the Nepali Congress has been in a 'coma' for the last four months.
Addressing the special general convention of the Nepali Congress held at Bhrikutimandap on Sunday, leader Chand said this, referring to the deadlock and inactivity within the party. He claimed that campaigners including General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma have breathed new life into the party that had been in a coma for four months.
'The Nepali Congress was in a coma for almost four months,' Chand said, 'I want to respect all those who dared to revive the comatose Congress by giving it life after four months.'
Stating that the Congress, which has historically been the guardian of the country, has become directionless in recent times, he said that now the party is returning to the role of a guardian. He praised both the general secretaries who played a role in awakening the party and the campaigners involved in the party strengthening campaign.
He added, 'I would like to specially remember both the esteemed general secretaries and campaigners who have brought the party that has been the guardian of this country to this point in history. Now the Congress is once again becoming the real guardian party of the country.'
