Ujjaya Nepal Party Chairman Kulman Ghising has said that the 12 days since the agreement with the National Independent Party on Poush 14 have been extremely painful. He also said that the Rashtriya Swatantra Party unilaterally broke the agreement.
Addressing a press conference at the Ujjaya Nepal party central office on Saturday, Ghising said that he had suffered losses by agreeing with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
'They took a long time to agree to a quick collaboration. They also took a long time to agree to a proportional representation system. We had abandoned everything in the proportional representation system. The party has suffered a great loss after having to engage for this long,' Ghising said. 'Today, on the last day, they unilaterally announced the breach of the agreement. He informed me that the agreement was unilaterally breached and it came out in the media. These 12 days have been very painful for us.'
Ghising said that the leaders of the RSSS have not shown interest in implementing the unwritten agreement. He says that in addition to the 7-point written agreement on Poush 14, there was also an unwritten agreement, but it was not implemented.
Ghising also said that he had urged for a supplementary agreement on issues such as the constitution, federalism, and inclusiveness, but the RSVP leadership backed down, saying it would be done initially. 'We had said that we should make a supplementary agreement to address the basic issues of inclusiveness, federalism, and the constitution. They had agreed, but they have not agreed to it recently,' Ghising said.
He said that Ujjala Nepal will contest the elections alone in the coming days.
