Nepali Communist Party leader and former Finance Minister Barshaman Pun has said that the election should be held on the scheduled date of 21 Falgun.

Addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, Pun said that there is no alternative to holding the election on the scheduled date. He said that the country's exit is possible only through elections as the political achievements achieved through the sacrifices of thousands are in crisis.

Pun stressed the need for unity and cooperation among the nationalist forces who love the country to neutralize the international maneuvers and the tendency to destroy the country's existence. 'The achievements achieved after thousands of sacrifices are in danger.' In such a situation, only elections can provide a way out for the country. Patriotic forces supporting national identity and integrity should stand together against the international maneuvers and the tendency to destroy the country's existence,' Pun said.

Pun pointed out that the country's politics is in a very unstable and fluid state and it is difficult to predict where stability will be achieved. 'Currently, there is an unstable, fluid and uncertain environment in national politics.' It is impossible to say where it will reach and achieve stability,' he said.

Pun said that along with politics, problems have also arisen in the economy. He mentioned that while the economy, affected by the 2072 earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic, was trying to recover, it slowed down again after the Gen-G movement on Bhadra 23 and 24. He said that the morale of the private sector had fallen due to the destruction caused during the movement.

'While the economy was trying to recover from the effects of the earthquake and COVID-19, the destruction caused during the Gen-G movement in Bhadra has lowered the morale of investors.' The economy, which was getting weaker, has slowed down again, said Pun, who is also a former finance minister.

In a different context, he clarified that politics that divides generations will not benefit the country.

'There is no such thing as new and old. Gen-G is a generation.' That too will become old one day. If a country is to be built, it should not be a conflict between generations. There should be inter-integration,' he said, 'The country, society and parties should move forward by combining the experience of the old generation, the balance of the middle generation and the enthusiasm of the new.'

In another different context, he argued that instability has arisen worldwide due to the breaking of the rules of the regulated world order and ideological factions in world politics. 'Earlier, there was a regulated world order or a world order with ideological factions. Capitalist countries were on one side and socialist countries were on the other side. But, what has happened now is that there are no rules in the world. Whatever the big and powerful countries say is the rule. There is a fight even among the bodies that have ideologically embraced the capitalist path. There is no cooperation even among socialist or socialist-oriented countries. In this way, the world is neither governed by ideology nor by the rules of any world organization. Nor is it governed by global mutual agreements,' Pun said, 'There is instability in world politics as big countries tend to back out of agreements. There is a danger of a global economic recession due to global political instability and lawlessness.'

Discussing that the world has turned into a small village due to the ease of information technology and transportation, he pointed out that there is a situation where events in one corner of the world affect the politics and economy of countries in the other corner.
