Five parties have agreed to share seats for the National Assembly elections. The Congress, UML, CPN (Maoist), LOSPA, and JSP Nepal have agreed to share seats. LOSPA and JSP Nepal have already announced their unification a few days ago.
A Congress leader said that even though the number of seats has been allocated, it has not yet been decided who will get which cluster seat in which province. Congress and UML will get 7/7 seats. According to Congress leader NP Sawad, Congress said that there is a rough understanding that Congress will get 1 seat from each province. Similarly, the Nepali Communist Party will get 3 seats.
One seat has been set aside for the LSP and JSP Nepal, which have announced the unification of the parties. Congress has called a meeting of the Central Working Committee on Wednesday morning to select candidates.
19 MPs are leaving the National Assembly from Falgun 20. Out of these, nominations will be made for 18 seats on Wednesday, while elections will be held on Magh 11.
Bamdev Gautam, who was nominated by the President on the recommendation of the government, is also leaving. The government will recommend a replacement for him.
