Madhav Kumar Nepal, co-coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, has said that the directly elected executive system will lead the country into a greater quagmire, uncertainty, and dictatorship.
At a press conference held in Dhankuta today, Leader Nepal claimed that it is impossible to imagine another 'Jung Bahadur' in the country of Jung Bahadur.
Citing examples from UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli to Sri Lanka and various African countries, Leader Nepal said that only those who create dictatorships will raise the issue of directly elected executives.
He said, 'Didn't you see KP Oli who got two-thirds! What did he do? How many people have the same tendency as Oli in Nepal? That is why directly elected executives are a pointless debate.' He said earlier, 'Does the mayor of a directly elected municipality ignore anyone? Does the ward chairman listen to anyone? Yes, that is the tendency of direct executives.'
He said that no system in the world is 100 percent perfect. He said that the current democratic parliamentary system should be improved. In another context, leader Nepal said that his party is ready to discuss electoral coordination with the Congress-UML for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21.
He said that for that, a proposal should come from the big parties including the Congress-UML. ‘They are the big parties, we are positive if they join hands, it is their first job to take the initiative,’ he said, ‘Clapping is not done with one hand, the role of the decision-maker is important, we are ready for discussions, but the Congress-UML should be ready first for this work, they are also the big parties.’
He said that he would reveal when the time comes whose strength and instigation led to the Gen-G movement.
