What you should know

There has also been controversy within the RPP regarding the proportional closed list.

Party spokesperson Gyan Bahadur Shahi has expressed dissatisfaction that Chairman Rajendra Lingden and Vice Chairman Buddhiman Tamang have placed his close friends and family members at the top of the proportional exclusion list. He demands that this be corrected.

‘The family of party Vice Chairman Buddhiman Tamang has directly benefited from proportional representation and alliances from 2064 to 2079 BS. He is a wealthy man, but now he has recommended his wife as the first candidate in the tribal cluster. The party has taken action against Khushbu Oli, who became an independent candidate against the party’s decision in 2079 BS. She has not given a single vote to the RPP so far. But she was placed at the first number in the Khas Arya Women’s Cluster,’ Shahi demands, ‘The party has misused the proportional system for raising the voices of minorities, the poor, the helpless. Now the party must correct the list. The party should recommend those for whom this provision has been made in the constitution.'

A top leader close to the RPP chairman said that the party's central work performance committee unanimously finalized the names of the proportional candidate. 'Despite being the wife of the vice-chairman, she took membership from Surya Bahadur Thapa in 2047 BS. She had worked in various committees of the party's districts, regions, and centers. She has also won a central member from the general convention. She has also led the Women's Association in various positions. She has been injured and detained in the name of the party,' the leader said. 'The work performance committee unanimously passed the closed list. Shahi also did not object to this. She must have made good use of the fundamental rights granted by the constitution now.'
