Former Prime Minister and NCP co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the responsibility of correcting the flaws within the state structure lies with the current government along with the elections.

Addressing a large gathering organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Kathmandu today under the title 'Collaboration for Peace, Stability and Prosperity', he said that the government should also be serious about solving the country's current problems.

He also commented that the demands of the protest held on Bhadra 23 were reasonable. 'The demands to end corruption, establish good governance and remove restrictions on social media were natural and justified. The demands of the protest held on Bhadra 23 were reasonable,' he said. 'As the lust for power increased among those in power, the tendency to seek solutions to problems through dialogue weakened. This situation came about due to the mistakes of those in power.'

He expressed strong objections to the incidents of arson, looting and destruction that took place on Bhadra 24. "Acts of arson, looting and vandalism are objectionable and punishable," he said. "The government has been lenient towards it, not serious, which is very sad."

He said that videos and CCTV footage of those incidents have been made public, and this has raised questions about the government's role.
