Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has commented that the government has failed to create the necessary environment for the election of members of the House of Representatives.

Addressing the 26th annual general meeting of the Morang Society Kathmandu in Kathmandu on Tuesday, he said that even though all political parties have submitted their lists for the proportional representation, the peace and security situation is weak, so whether the election will be held in a fair and fearless manner is an important question.

'All political parties have submitted their lists for the proportional representation. But is there actually a situation where elections will be held in the country? The question of whether or not it will be held is an ego question. We do not run away from elections. A democratic party may lose, but we will not run away from elections,' he said.

Stating that the main responsibility for maintaining peace and security in elections lies with the police administration, he also said that the morale of the police has deteriorated significantly.
