Nepali Communist Party (NCP) leader Pampha Bhusal has said that she will not be a direct and proportional candidate.

'Without exceptions, I am of the opinion that it would be appropriate for those who have already had the opportunity this time not to run in direct or proportional elections,' she said while making her opinion public on the social network Facebook.

Stating that it would be appropriate for other leaders not to repeat themselves, she wrote, 'I believe that political experience and learning should be utilized institutionally within the party.'

The government has already announced the upcoming House of Representatives elections for Falgun 21. She says that even though she received offers from various parts of the country, including Lalitpur, to run as a direct and proportional candidate in the elections, she did not accept them. 'I am the only female candidate who has won two direct elections from the then Maoists. Moreover, standing up and winning in a complex constituency like Kathmandu Valley is like chewing on an iron jaw,' she said.

Bhusal is a two-time directly elected MP and has had the opportunity to serve as a minister several times.

She has also said that this time she will play an active role in winning the candidates nominated by the party. 'I am of the clear opinion that capable, committed and energetic youth who have not yet had the opportunity should be brought forward in both the direct and proportional processes,' says Bhusal.

She became an MP from Lalitpur-3 in the first Constituent Assembly election directly and from the same constituency in the 2074 House of Representatives election. In 2064, she became the Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare, in 2065, the Minister of Peace in 2068 and the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in 2078.
