President of the National Independent Party, Rabi Lamichhane, has said that the consensus should be what the country needs, not what the leaders seek.

Lamichhane made the statement public on social media after reaching an agreement with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah.

This morning, Lamichhane posted a photo of himself signing the agreement with Shah on social media and wrote, 'Agreement is not what the leader wants, it should be what the country needs.'

A 7-point agreement has been reached between Lamichhane and Shah. The agreement states that Lamichhane will lead the party and that Shah will be the next prime ministerial candidate. Shah has accepted the name, election symbol and leadership of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and it is stated that Shah will be the leader of the parliamentary party and the future prime ministerial candidate after the elections to be held on Falgun 21.
