The Election Commission has cancelled the registration of six political parties for failing to pay the prescribed fines.
The Commission has dissolved the political parties that have not paid the fine as per Sub-section (4) of Section 54 of the Political Parties Act, 2073 BS, as per Section 12 of the same Act.
According to the Commission, Aam Aadmi Party Nepal, Communist Party of Nepal (Democratic), Nepal Nationalist Party, Modern Nepal Socialist Party, Communist Party of Nepal (Gourvashali) and Maoist Janmukti Party have been dissolved.
The number of political parties registered with the Commission is currently 137.
