No need to worry about parliament being restored: Lamichhane

What you should know

After being released from prison, Ravi Lamichhane, the central president of the National Independent Party (NISP), addressed a gathering in Bharatpur Chaubiskothi on Saturday.

He said that he would engage in a campaign to unite all new friends, including Gen-G activists, in the elections. But he said that this unity should not be just for one election but for the entire generation.

‘We will move forward together with everyone who wants change. Gen-G activists will also be with us,’ he said, ‘But the point of unity is not for one election. I did not come into politics for one election. I came into politics for a generation. If we can unite until the future of the entire generation is formed, let us unite. Ravi Lamichhane will make the first sacrifice for the entire generation. Otherwise, I am sorry.’

He said that he was positive about joining forces even while he was in prison. ‘What sacrifices do I have to make, I am ready. Someone needs an election symbol, take it. Someone needs a party, take it. Someone needs a flag, take it. Someone needs a party office, take it. "Take the chairman and vice chairman, the individual matter is not a big deal," he added, "I have only one question - friends, it is not like you have hit your head and said it is not like you have finished it."

He demanded that the government prepare for the elections with full preparation. He also commented that there is no need for anyone to blink an eye as to whether the parliament will be restored.

He was released from custody on Friday after appearing in the Rupandehi District Court and submitting a bank guarantee of Rs 10 million for bail and Rs 27.484 million for the fine.
