Hark Sampang, Chairman of the Labor Culture Party and Mayor of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, has suspended the party's central vice-chairman, Devraj Lama.
After the police arrested Lama on charges of involvement in the old bomb blast incident, Sampang on Wednesday announced that Vice President Lama had been suspended from the party's responsibilities until the investigation is completed, expressing his commitment to support the state's investigation.
Party President Sampang posted a video on social media Facebook and said that he had been suspended from the post of Vice President until he is proven innocent. He said, "I am a person who says wrong is wrong and right is right. There will be no pressure or influence from our side in the investigation conducted by the state."
Stating that the state should conduct a fair investigation, he added, "If he is found guilty, action should be taken according to the law. However, if he is found innocent, he cannot be harmed."
Sampang said, "This is a Labor Culture Party. We do not have the habit of remaining in office while getting involved in various scams and scandals like others. He has been suspended from today itself. If he is found guilty, he will be relieved of his post, if he returns innocent, we will welcome him back.' He said that the party will also issue an official press release on this issue.
Devraj Lama, also known as Kumar Bishwakranti, was arrested by a team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) from Kapan in Kathmandu on Tuesday. He is accused of carrying out bomb blasts in various places in the country including Kathmandu while he was affiliated with an organization called the Bishwa Samyukta Jatiya Mukti Morcha.
On 15 Falgun 2068, 3 people were killed and 7 others were injured in a bomb blast at the gate of Nepal Oil Corporation in Babarmahal. Lama, who was arrested earlier and sent to jail, was released after the government granted a general amnesty on 2076 Falgun 2076 on the occasion of Democracy Day while he was in the central jail.
He is also involved in another bomb blast incident in Panchthar, in which one person was killed. It is said that he was arrested after he was found absconding in a case related to explosives at the District Police Office, Panchthar. He had been absconding for a long time in connection with the bomb blast incident that killed a girl in Panchthar.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested him from Kapan, Kathmandu and sent him to Panchthar for further investigation on Tuesday.
