The nomination of candidates for the new leadership is taking place today, the second day of the closed session of the 11th National Convention of the UML. According to the election schedule, the registration and nomination of candidates will be held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm today, informed UML Central Election Commission Chairman Vijay Subba.

He said that the commission will start the candidate registration process by publishing the final list of voters at 10:15 this morning. The commission started the election process by publishing the voter list yesterday.

According to the election schedule, the application forms for nominations will be distributed from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm today. After the nomination, the schedule has been set to publish the preliminary list of candidates at 2:30 pm today and to receive complaints against the candidates from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Similarly, the commission has set the time from 3:10 pm to 5:00 pm today for the withdrawal of candidate names and the final list of candidates will be published at 6:00 pm, as mentioned in the election schedule. The Election Commission has stated that after completing all the processes today, the election will be held tomorrow, Poush 1.

According to Commission Chairman Subba, voting for the new leadership will be held from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Poush 1.  Voting will be held at the convention venue, Bhrikutimandap. UML is going to vote through electronic voting machines this time too. 2,262 delegates are participating in the general convention.

The competition for the new leadership is going to be between current Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Senior Vice Chairman Ishwor Pokharel. Earlier, electronic voting machines were also used in the 10th National Convention held in Chitwan.
