The CPN-UML Koshi Province Committee has suspended two leaders loyal to central secretary Yogesh Bhattarai and sought an explanation. The suspension includes outgoing chairman and former Social Development Minister of Koshi Province Bal Bahadur Samsohang and secretary candidate Mani Shankar Pomu at the last district convention.
Kosi Province Advisory Council member Samsohang and Kosi Province Committee Tourism Department Secretary Pomu Patke have been taken into action . The suspension imposed by the Province Committee on the same post earlier has not been lifted . Kosi Province President Ghanashyam Khatiwada has again mentioned the same post and has been suspended from party responsibilities and asked for an explanation .
In the explanation, the concerned district committee has recommended action against Kosi Province Committee member and Election Committee Coordinator Rajkumar Chudal for allegedly attacking him and obstructing the election process during the election process for the 11th General Convention representative selection process, and has asked him to submit a written explanation within 15 days . It is also mentioned that his membership has been suspended for that period .
Earlier, he was suspended for vandalism and mob violence during the district convention of the UML sister organization Yuva Sangh held in the month of Baisakh last year . On the recommendation of the investigation committee, the provincial committee had decided that if Samsohang admitted his shortcomings and self-criticized, his suspension would be lifted immediately, and if Pomu accepted his shortcomings and self-criticized, he would be suspended for eight months.
Samsohang refused to self-criticize, saying he had not committed any shortcomings, while Pomu had not completed the eight-month period. Despite not self-criticizing, Samsohang was made to participate in the statutory general convention held on Bhadra 20. Samsohang and Pomu also filed their candidacies during the selection of delegates to the general convention.
Ghanendra Maden, Mangalsinh Kedem, Ashish Kedem and Santosh Chamling had filed complaints against them. Samsohang says that a general dispute arose when the election committee did not provide the details of the complaint filed against them. ‘It is said to be a fatal attack, where and how many people are hospitalized with injuries?’ Samsohang asked and said, ‘The Oli supporters tried to stop us by saying we are from a different group.’
The incident took place on the 6th, but he said that he saw the letter sent by the provincial committee on the 11th on social media after an agreement was reached in the district. He admitted that there was some dispute with the election committee during the protest against the nomination of the general convention representative.
The general convention representative was unanimously selected with the activities of Samsohang and district in-charge Tilkumar Menyangwo. Eight of the KP Oli supporters and four of the Ishwor Pokhrel supporters were selected. The UML leader says that the representatives were selected by consensus after sitting down repeatedly after the dispute with the election committee.
During the agreement, provincial committee members, those who were subject to action by the district leadership, and the election committee coordinator himself were also present in the discussion. Samsohang complains that there was no scope for action during the discussion, but the action letter was suddenly made public after the election date was agreed upon. He clarified that he would not agree to take action. He said that consultations are underway on whether to provide an explanation or not.
