Former Education Minister Sumana Shrestha has said that new political parties should move forward together. Shrestha says that if the old parties go their separate ways, the old political parties will come to power.
Addressing the announcement meeting of the Ujjaya Nepal Party on Wednesday, Shrestha said that the political forces that emerged after the Gen-G movement should move forward unitedly. She said that she would always work for unity among the new forces. 'We should move forward unitedly. Going separately means giving the old parties a red carpet,' she said. 'We should move forward with a broad mind. Not separately.'
She said that the new forces should unite to prevent the old parties from returning to power. 'Why move separately? Everyone should go to one place to prohibit the culture of the old party. Everyone asked where Sumana is, Sumana is united. There should be unity.'
Sumana said that the journey of the political party now is to establish good governance and end corruption, nepotism, favoritism and bias.
Sumana, who left the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and left the party, has since been in discussions to form a new party. Although there is talk of her joining hands with Kulman Ghising to form a new party, she has not been seen in any formal role in the Ujjaya Nepal Party.
