The platforms of the assembly, which was supposed to convey the message of leftist unity, are dominated by leaders who have been present for the past two decades. Not only Dahal, Nepal, Khanal, Gautam, but also aging leaders like Shrestha and Rawal seem to be filling the stage.

The name of the Nepali Communist Party, which is made up of a dozen constituents, seems new. Although the name of the party is new, there is nothing new in its leadership, their working style, and message. An attempt has been made to form a large-scale party by merging the Maoist Center, the CPN Unified Socialist Party, and small constituents.
Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the coordinator of the NCP, who has been 'disrupting' the system since 2048, has merged a dozen parties and components to form the Communist Party and become its leader himself.
But looking at the face of the NCP leadership, there is no newness. Even though the language style of the party's work line has been revised, the essence is the same. Even though the name and form are new, there is a question of whether the essence is new. Dahal, the coordinator of the party, has himself been leading the party for 36 years. Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal has been the general secretary of the UML for 15 years and the chairman of the Unified Socialist Party, which was formed after splitting from the UML, for 4 years.
Former UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal is in third place, and former UML vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam is in fourth place. All these four leaders have crossed 70 years. In this way, the leadership of the new NCP is dominated by the same old leaders. The Genji movement demanded transformation in leadership and working style in all parties, but the old parties are gradually forgetting it. They have started returning to the old style. The latest example of this is the Nepali Communist Party.
The Nepali Communist Party was formed on Kartik 19 after the unification of the Maoists, Unified Socialists and other components. UML former vice-chairman Bhim Rawal's Matrubhumi Abhiyan merged with the NCP on Kartik 26. After that, it was decided to hold message meetings in all seven provinces, and that program is currently ongoing.
Coordinator Dahal has claimed that he has changed in the province-level 'Message' meetings held in Dhangadhi, Dang, Pokhara and Biratnagar. He says that the Maoist Center, Unified Socialists, Janata Socialists and 15 other components have formed a new party and transformed their working style, behavior and ideas according to the spirit of the Genji movement. But if we look only at the stage of the meetings held in Dhangadhi, Dang, Pokhara and Biratnagar, there is no novelty in the faces, speech, style and message.
The stages of the meetings that are supposed to give the message of left unity are dominated by leaders who have been appearing for the past two decades. Not only Dahal, Nepal, Khanal, Gautam, but also aging leaders like Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Bhim Rawal seem to fill the stage.
There is no new message in the reception, the garlands around the necks of the leaders, the speeches they give. The speeches given by the leaders have the same old style except for adding the word 'Genji Andolan'. Coordinator Dahal, on the other hand, has the ability to add spice to his speeches more than other speakers.
Co-coordinator Nepal presents himself as a leader with an honest image, regardless of the case filed against him in the Patanjali land case in Kavre. He criticizes and ridicules UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli in every speech. Another leader Khanal's traditional style of explaining 'Marxism' is the same. Even though leader Gautam tried to invigorate the meeting, the participants did not believe him. Because, all these leaders have been tested time and again.
Coordinator Dahal, Co-Coordinator Nepal presented themselves in the old style at the programs in Dhangadhi, Dang, Pokhara and Biratnagar. Even though there were many questions about the old parties after the Genji movement, Dahal, Nepal and other leaders insisted that 'their party and themselves are right'. At the meeting in Biratnagar on Monday, Dahal said that left unity alone cannot face the challenge. ‘It may be foolish to say that only communists and leftists can solve all the country's challenges,' Dahal said. ‘Only when all democratic and progressive forces join hands, the country's crisis can be resolved.’ He told reporters that he would unite with others except UML Chairman Oli. ‘Everyone except KP Oli will be included,’ he said.
At the Pokhara meeting on Sunday, the main leaders had garlands of dubo around their necks. The same old familiar faces were on the stage. Wearing a garland like a groom, Dahal claimed in Pokhara that the NCP would become a national power. ‘It is a meeting to build national power,’ he said, criticizing Oli. ‘KP Oli will win over his arrogant and arrogant tendencies sooner or later. The broad left unity will move forward from that point.’
He said that he would also move forward by forming a front with the democrats. ‘We are also in dialogue with the Nepali Congress.’ We are gradually seeing it in Madhesh. We are holding talks to protect democracy,' he said. At a meeting held in Lamahi, Dang on Sunday, Dahal committed to moving forward with self-criticism.
'Where did we go wrong in development, where were the weaknesses in solving the problems of the people? This is also a meeting to dig into such things, correct them and self-criticize,' he said, 'This unity is not for winning elections, but for protecting the nation, the freedom of the people, and ending foreign interference.'
Dahal said that a review is needed as the country has never faced a crisis like the current one. 'We saw the destruction of Bhadra 24, has it made the sovereign citizen and the state machinery so weak? Is the state in a state that cannot save all that destruction?' Dahal's commitment was, 'This is a very extraordinary situation.' Learning from this, we have come forward with the resolve to change ourselves and make any sacrifice for the people.'
Addressing a message gathering in Dhangadhi on Saturday, NCP Co-Convenor Nepal claimed that not all leaders are the same. 'Not all leaders are the same. There are good ones. There are bad ones. There are corrupt ones on this earth. There are honest ones. They are not all the same,' he sarcastically said of UML Chairman Oli, 'Some say they listen to things or get burned. There are also those who only praise themselves.'
Nepal also said that the NCP played a role in giving the Genji generation the right direction and that Dahal and he played an important role in protecting the constitution. 'We have played a role in motivating the Genji generation to move in a positive direction. Prachanda and I stayed at the President's residence from 9 pm to 4 am. The leaders of other parties were not found,' he said.
The NCP has launched its election campaign with a unity message rally. In the rally, the leaders have said that the elections should be held on time. They have organized programs in all seven provinces as election rallies.
The NCP has decided to hold rallies in Kathmandu of the Valley Special Province on Mangsir 17, Surkhet of Karnali on Mangsir 18, Kathmandu of the Federal Liaison Coordination Province on Mangsir 19, Janakpur of Madhesh Province on Mangsir 20, Pravas Samiti's virtual rally on Mangsir 21, and Hetauda of Bagmati on Mangsir 23.
NCP leader Lekhnath Neupane said that although it is positive for the parties to go to the people, they should pay attention to the message to be given after the Genji movement. 'It is good for the parties and leaders to go to the people.' But the main question is what message, what kind of face to take,' he said, 'There is nothing particularly new in the style, message and resolution seen in the assembly.'
Acting General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Ghanshyam Bhusal commented that there has been no change in the style and nature of the old leaders of the old parties, and made a pretext to include the Genji generation.
