Nepali Communist Party Coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed the view that a 'national army of 30 million Nepalis' should be formed to protect nationalism and safeguard independence. He said that the incidents of 23-24 Bhadra have proven that the country's defense is not possible with the state army and police alone.

Addressing a party unity message meeting held in Biratnagar, Dahal said, 'The security agencies alone cannot defeat foreign maneuvers. But we have the ability to form a national army with the power of 30 million Nepalis. The army should be formed by the people, only then will freedom and self-respect be secure.'

Coordinator Dahal called on the people to prepare for the socialist revolution.

Recalling Manmohan Adhikari to Girija Prasad Koirala, he opined that the power of the communists and the left alone is not sufficient to solve the current challenges.

'It may be foolish to say that all the challenges of the country can be solved by the communists and the left alone,' Dahal said, 'The national crisis can be resolved only if all democratic and progressive forces join hands.'

Stating that the recent Gen-G movement has taken the country to a serious turning point, he said that after the incident of the 24th, a terrible situation has arisen as to whether Nepal will remain or not. He commented that those who tried to blow up the movement as a rumor are now silent.

According to Dahal, the party supported the election of the then president and the formation of Sushila Karki's government was also on the recommendation of KP Oli.

Claiming that the security forces have failed to protect historical heritage, Dahal said, 'The Bhadau incident has made it clear that the army and police alone cannot save the country. The nation is still in crisis, so the collective strength of the people is needed.'

Although left unity efforts in Nepal have failed in the past, Dahal called the unity between the UML-NCP and other components this time 'historic'.

'This unity is not like the past, it is the first in the political history of Nepal,' he said, 'Now we will move forward in a new way.'

Coordinator Dahal warned against making any agreements of long-term importance since the current government is only an electoral government.

He said, 'The government should create an environment for elections in a fair and correct manner. The elections should be conducted correctly, and the mandate of the people should be clear.'

He claims that the NCP has put forward an action-oriented plan to make education and health accessible to all.
