The Supreme Court has ordered the release of medical practitioner Durga Prasai.

The Supreme Court has ordered the issuance of a habeas corpus petition, saying that there was an agreement between the government and Prasai's supporters to hold a peaceful program on Mangsir 20.

A bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Shrikant Poudel has ordered the court to hand over the papers to the registrar and hand over his son Nirajan Prasai.

Earlier, a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Meghraj Pokharel had ordered Prasai to be produced in court along with the reason for his arrest while hearing Prasai's habeas corpus petition.

The police arrested Prasai on Mangsir 20 and are investigating him for a crime against public peace. After analyzing that he had made inflammatory statements by announcing a protest and that his actions could incite violence, the police arrested Prasai at midnight from his residence in Thimi, Bhaktapur.
